Magnacut Stainless 4” Sloyd Knife in curly Ash

$460.00

Knife will ship after a few days of letting the oil cure in the shop. Sheathing knife prematurely will result in a ruined finish as the leather will draw uncured oil out of the wood.

Specs:

  • CPM Magnacut Stainless Steel blade - The latest groundbreaking evolution in high toughness stainless steel.

  • Sharpened at a low 25 degree hollow scandi bevel

  • Pure Hollow grind on arrival, flats can be added in time.

  • All CPM (Crucible Powdered Metalurgy) blades benefit from sharper edges developed from lower grits due to exceptionally fine microstructure and carbide distribution. This blade is sharpened at just 400 grit an rivals the edge finish quantity of low alloy steels sharpened at 3000 grit, easily whittling and cutting a loose hair

  • Paked With Vanadium, Chromium, and Niobium Carbides this steel is more resistant to abrasive wear and requires the use of silicon carbide (typical wet dry paper) or diamond sharpening equipment. That wear resistance means a little more effort to sharpen, but you’ll find you can just do a 400 and 1000 followed by a strop and return to carving, potentially saving you some time overall. Sharpening to high grits is fine and payy result in an even longer lasting edge, but feels unnecessary to me.
