The Modern Slip-Joint design is an adaptation of the classic non locking slip joint and modern liner lock design. It’s not a lock, it’s an open, close and middle detent system designed for daily light use pocket knives. The advantage of this design over the traditional slip joint is that the knife can be opened with one hand and doesn’t need a “nail nick” to pull the blade open. They are legal anywhere that locking knives a prohibited. I was drawn to this functionally and aesthetically as it open options that slip joints don’t allow. This design does not excel at artistic wood carving, and is better suited to being a daily carry companion than a hard use tool.
